Iplay, the world’s leading multi-platform casual games company, has selected NYI (www.nyi.net), New York’s premier data center provider since 1996, to deliver customized infrastructure solutions to support its growing portfolio of global, integrated games solutions.
“NYI is the best at what they do,” said Nelson Wu, Infrastructure Services Manager, Iplay. “Along with execution under extremely aggressive time concerns, senior NYI staff was onsite throughout the entire process. We couldn’t be happier with the results, which consolidate our infrastructure as well as provide significant monitoring and full-scale NOC capabilities.”
“It validates everything we do whenever we see a long-term customer like Iplay continue to grow and thrive, ” said Phillip Koblence, VP Operations, NYI. “Iplays’s diverse, cross-platform strategy, coupled with our infrastructure expertise, has given the company the flexibility to compete in a market where the old categories no longer apply.”
Until 2010, Iplay was hosted in fully managed locations that did not allow direct access to hardware. For a company that relied on maximal flexibility and frequent product iteration, an inability to manage equipment directly proved a barrier to both innovation and infrastructure management. Previous data center providers proved unreliable, resulting in numerous outages and service interruptions.
NYI has been able to accommodate the specific requirements of Iplay’s business. Since making the switch, Iplay has scaled from one cabinet to four cabinets. Direct access to hardware has meant that Iplay’s infrastructure management is more efficient than with previous providers, allowing them to change and deploy hardware and software more quickly without having to go through a third party.
Outsourcing some of the hardware monitoring to NYI has increased response times for troubleshooting and significantly reduced outages and downtime compared to previous providers.
