NEW YORK, NY July 12, 2012—NYI (www.nyi.net), New York’s premier data center provider, has been chosen to provide infrastructure support for Viggle, an app-driven loyalty program for television owned by Viggle Inc., that gives people real rewards for checking into the television shows they’re watching.
NYI specializes in colocation, dedicated servers, managed services, cloud computing, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions. For the launch of Viggle in January 2012, NYI created a flexible, customized solution that fit their technology and business needs.
“We turned to NYI because of their track record of supporting successful Silicon Alley startups,” said Geir Magnusson, CTO of Viggle. “They’ve been a great partner, managing the infrastructure so we can focus on what we do best: Making Viggle a great second-screen experience for TV viewers.”
“Viggle is the latest in a long line of innovative New York City tech companies,” said Phillip Koblence, VP Operations, NYI. “Their passion for what they do rivals our own, which is why we’ve worked so well together. We know that with the plan we’ve created, they will be able to respond to any market need.”
Available for Apple iPhone®, iPad® and iPod touch® as well as Android-based devices, Viggle automatically identifies what television shows its users are watching and awards them points when they check-in. Viggle users can redeem their points within the app for dozens of rewards from well-known companies for movie tickets, music and gift cards or they can convert points into charitable donations. Viggle’s audio verification technology matches TV content from more than 160 channels.
