A Continuing Industry Focus on AI

This Fall, NYI participated in a series of industry conferences focused on the latest AI trends, challenges and breakthroughs including Infrastructure/SUMMIT, the OCP Global Summit and The AI Summit New York. These dynamic events fostered collaborative problem-solving among a broad spectrum of participants, particularly around key issues such as meeting the increasing demand for power and sustainable solutions. As AI adoption accelerates, connectivity-rich regional data centers like NYI are set to play a critical role in effectively delivering AI capabilities, particularly AI inferencing requirements.

60 Hudson is Where the Quantum Future Begins!

Our partner QTD Systems has achieved a milestone on its mission to bridge quantum and classical infrastructure under one roof with the installation of Qunnect’s Carina — the world’s first turnkey entanglement-based quantum networking system. This marks the first data center deployment of this groundbreaking quantum networking technology. Carina operates at room temperature and creates quantum networking capabilities over existing commercial telecom fiber, generates, distributes, and stores entanglement photons — essential building blocks for the future quantum internet.

This is a major step toward a functional quantum data center in New York City, allowing customers to connect, build and innovate on a quantum network. QTD is the first data center to join GothamQ, a metro-scale quantum network that currently sends entangled photons under the streets of New York City, connecting New York University, Columbia University, Stony Brook University, Brookhaven
National Laboratory and Qunnect.

Enhanced Connectivity Capabilities and New Internet Exchange @NYI Chicago

We’re excited to share that Open Pipes, a nonprofit initiative focused on building open, neutral, and community-driven Internet Exchange infrastructure, is expanding neutral Internet exchange capacity at NYI Chicago (in Oak Brook, IL), bringing a new nonprofit IX to the heart of the Midwest. Designed to support scalable interconnection, the Chicago Open Pipes exchange gives networks, content providers, and cloud platforms a cost-effective way to peer locally while reducing latency and transit dependency.

The exchange is being built by 20C, which is deploying carrier-grade gear and delivering 800G of initial connectivity into the fabric at 800 Jorie. Built using their open-source FullCtl software and modern tooling, combining real capacity from day one with community-driven governance to create a long-term interconnection platform for the region, not just another IX.
