Key Industry Events Grow in Scale!
Key first quarter conferences including PTC 2026 in Honolulu and DCD>Connect|NY in New York City were larger, more dynamic and innovative than ever, reflecting the critical and growing importance of digital infrastructure in supporting AI requirements. Leaders from the data center and energy industries came together to problem solve for key issues like grid constraints and finding sustainable, reliable and affordable power solutions.

60 HUDSON STREET UPDATES

Introducing a New Team Member!
We are happy to announce that Tyerel Riley joined the NYI 60 Hudson team as a Data Center Engineer in March.
Tyerel brings over a decade of New York City telecom experience including tenures at major interconnection hubs like 111 8th Avenue and a background as an engineer for Verizon. His deep expertise in fiber testing and troubleshooting makes him a fantastic addition to our operations team.

60 Hudson Street Quantum Update
Our 60 Hudson Street partner QTD Systems hosted a milestone development in quantum networking this February — the first metro-scale, high-speed quantum entanglement swapping over commercial fiber, featuring their client Qunnect’s Carina (the world’s first turnkey entanglement-based quantum networking system, installed at QTD’s 60 Hudson data center) and Cisco’s quantum networking software.
This is a significant achievement as it brings quantum networks closer to scalable deployment by validating the effectiveness of a new spoke-and-hub model for scaling quantum networks through commercial data centers. The landmark demonstration used Qunnect’s GothamQ quantum network testbed which runs throughout New York City. The results demonstrated that the integrated system can operate reliably in one of the world’s most demanding urban environments, providing a deployable blueprint for distributed quantum computing and secure metro-scale quantum networks.

RECENT PODCASTS
Inaugural Episode of Byte-Sized
NYI COO Phillip Koblence was delighted to be interviewed for the first episode of Byte-Sized, a short form podcast series launched by host and U.C. Berkeley graduate student Michael Brand to connect the digital infrastructure experts of today, with the digital infrastructure leaders of tomorrow with a focus on shaping a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient internet.
Michael taps into Phillip’s thirty years of experience in the digital infrastructure industry to provide the audience with insights into the process of retrofitting legacy facilities such as 60 Hudson Street in New York City.

Enhanced Connectivity Capabilities and New Internet Exchange @NYI Chicago
We are excited to welcome Open Pipes, a nonprofit initiative focused on building open, neutral, and community-driven Internet Exchange infrastructure to NYI Chicago (in Oak Brook, IL). Designed to support scalable interconnection, the Chicago Open Pipes exchange gives networks, content providers, and cloud platforms a cost-effective way to peer locally while reducing latency and transit dependency. The exchange is being built by 20C, which is deploying carrier-grade gear and delivering 800G of initial connectivity into the fabric at 800 Jorie.

Nomad Futurist: Launch of Mana Hui
Our COO Phillip Koblence was delighted to participate in Nomad Futurist’s Mana Hui, a carbon neutral networking event at PTC 2026 in Honolulu, designed to give leaders the chance to connect while exploring sustainable practices in digital infrastructure. The gathering highlighted the importance of community, culture and accountability and was held in partnership with Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC).
More recently, NYI was proud to be a sponsor of the follow-up Nomad Futurist Mana Hui Leaders Connect event at DCD>Connect in New York City in March.
